The First Lie Ever Told
. . . Repeated.

2 Timothy 4:1-4

A Curious Occurrence:  In my personal Bible Studies, & praying, & visiting with a dear friend about Jesus, I noticed the following. This is not one of the softer Bible Scripture texts, however, God's people will know it is truth, as is all of God's Word.  One day, they will know.

A BibleGateway search for the word "destroy" has 433 references, in the King James Version of the Holy Bible.  There are 18 pages of them.

The last occurrence is in the Book of Revelation. It is Revelation 11:18 -
I recommend the entire chapter of  Revelation 11  for your further study.
This text reads:

"And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth."    Revelation 11:18

???  Does destroy mean destroy, . . . or just destroy?

"And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."    Matthew 10:28

???  Does destroy mean destroy, . . . or just destroy?      Does kill mean kill, or just kill?

"For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts."     Malachi 4:1-3

???  Are ashes, Ashes, . . . or just ashes?

Texts like these are throughout the Bible.  You can not get around them.  The words are clear.  Or, One has to do violence to the Human & English language.  To try and make the word destroy mean anything but destroy requires, requires, a certain & major level of denial.

"The First Lie Ever Told" was a denial.  Satan first insinuated to Eve that God had lied to her, for selfish aims.  Then that little devil came right out and called God a liar.  Satan said, "And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."     Genesis 3:4-5    Isaiah 28:14-18

God said,
"the soul that sinneth it shall die."    Ezekiel 18:4

God says Satan will be not.  "What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time. For while they be folden together as thorns, and while they are drunken as drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry."   Nahum 1:9-10   Thank & Praise God.  He promises "affliction shall not rise up the second time."

"Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more."    Ezekiel 28:18-19

Ashes?  Devoured?  Consumed?  Never be anymore?   I could list many more texts.  Most Christians, who have read the Bible, must have come across these and others.  Surely?

But I must have spent too much time in my closet praying & studying my Bible.  There are beliefs stated and positions held, out there, that I have to wonder where they come from.  Lately I have come across many churches and congregations who have listed in their "Statements of Beliefs" things like:  "The soul and spirit do not die, but immediately at death enter into a literal & conscious state of happiness or misery according to the character here developed & possessed by their rejection or acceptance of the Savior."  ---- They work for eternal suffering?  They work for eternal Life?   Hummmm?  (ken scratches head wondering)

Another states that after death the soul goes somewhere, "of the believer in Jesus to everlasting blessedness, glory, and joy with the Lord; of the unbeliever in Christ to judgment, damnation, and everlasting conscious punishment."

And another states, "The resurrection of the believers will be unto eternal glory and joy, forever with the Lord and the resurrection of the unbelievers will be unto eternal punishment and misery, forever without the Lord."

Lastly, another explains this discrepancy by stating, "The terms "eternal" and "everlasting" and "forever" the Bible uses in describing the length of the punishment of the spiritually damned in the lake of fire carry the same thought and meaning of endless existence as the meaning in noting the duration of joy and ecstasy of the saints of Glory in the presence of God."

God said, "the soul that sinneth it shall die."  Satan said, "Ye shall not surely die"

???  Is eternal and everlasting death, still death ?    ???  Is Dead, Dead, or just dead?

What really upsets me is this:
They say, my Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ,  . . .
They say, my God and my Father,
The Creator of all Life, . . .
They say, the Holy Spirit of God,
the Comforter of His Children, . . .

They say  God is a torturer and a fiend who would turn His creatures, most who never did much more than dis-believe Him, . . . into human torches to light the night sky, forever in misery.

Would our Loving Lord Jesus, torture someone at all, much less an eternal for-ever?  Do earthly judges condemn to un-ceasing torture?  Even earthly judges are reluctant to give even the earthly "death" penalty.

So here is the truth.

Natural Immortality

The notion that life is an endless circle is ridiculous. Death occurs constantly around us. The idea that man's nature is in any way naturally immortal is equally false. The idea that a man 'has a spirit' which cannot die is deceptive, and denies the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The belief, when a man dies, his 'spirit' or 'soul' goes some place else to think, have being, or do anything is not biblical. "His breath goeth forth; he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish."    Psalm 146:4    Ecclesiastes 9:5-6    Job 14:20-21

It is a comfort to many people, to think departed loved ones are 'with the Lord.'  And indeed, our 'spirit' does return to the Lord who gave it.    Ecclesiastes 12:7

God gives you that comfort. God does hold our person and its life in His hand. He can make us live, at His choice. The Lord will proclaim a resurrection from death.    1 Corinthians 15:35-58

But the idea that any part of man, including any so called 'spirit,' lives on naturally, 'reincarnated,' or in any other form, without having a resurrection of life, from God, through Jesus Christ, is false.    John 3:35-36    John 11:23-27

The idea man's nature contains a separate thing, often called 'his spirit,' which somehow naturally lives on, repeats the lie told to Eve, namely, "Ye shalt not surely die."    Genesis 3:4

This doctrine is a belief of ancient paganism which has found a home in 'christian doctrine,' and other religions in the world. The doctrine, that all men have some part of their being, often called a spirit, live on naturally, either in hell, heaven, purgatory, or the spirit world, denies the need for the death of Jesus the Christ. If there was no real, true, complete death, Jesus would not have had to die, to save mankind from that death.

Jesus saved mankind from extinction.

Man is composed of Body (ones physical being), made alive by the Breath of Life (spirit) from God. Man then becomes a living soul. He does not have a soul. He is a soul. All creatures have the Breath of Life. These words 'soul' and 'spirit' often have different definitions to different people.    Genesis 2:7    Genesis 7:15    Revelation 16:3

Without body and breath creatures, including men and women, are dead. A man's spirit is his genetic blueprint, memories, and identifying traits. A man's, or woman's, consciousness and understanding will not work without a body. The natural man has a natural body, subject to death. The redeemed will have a body free of sin and death. The soul of man is his spirit in control of his body. There is no soul without the Breath of Life.    1 Corinthians 2:9-14
    Job 20:3    James 2:26

At death, a person's page is completed in the "books of record" in Heaven. That person's "spirit" (genetic blueprint, memories, identifying traits) indeed returns to God. But his thoughts perish. He has no more to do with "anything that is done under the sun." "His sons come to honor and he knows it not." It is man's position to rest in death, until the day appointed for him to be resurrected, or given life again. On that day, God will recombine spirit and body. On that day, a man will live again. God can make a man a living soul any time He wants. The Almighty God has this power.    Revelation 20:12    Ecclesiastes 12:7    Ecclesiastes 9:5-7
    Ecclesiastes 3:18-22    Psalm 146:4    Job 14:20-21    John 6:39-40

Isn't it comforting to think, ones loved ones get some true rest, instead of having to view the injustices of this world? Do we want our departed loved ones to watch the hardships we may endure without them? Isn't it beautiful and wonderful to know God wants to wait, instead of making our loved ones perfect without us.    Hebrews 11:39-40

God put angels to guard the way to "The Tree of Life," so man would not live forever, in his sinful state. Jesus Christ came so man might not die. Those who do not come through Christ shall not see life. They will die. Those who trust Jesus receive the gift of abundant life.
    Genesis 3:22-24    John 10:1    John 10:9-10

Hell and the grave

Hell is a time and event.  The place is Earth.  Hell's result is the grave.  The grave is eternal, without Christ.
Eventually even death will die, for there will be no more death.  The death will last for ever.  The Fire of the Torment, will not last forever.    2 Timothy 4:1-8    2 Peter 3:1-15    Isaiah 28:21-23    Revelation 20:14-15  thru  Revelation 21:1    Revelation 21:1-27

REPEAT, the Fire which God will use to cleanse the earth and rid it of all that sins, the Fire that is often called Hell, will not last for-ever.  Eventually it will have done its work.  Even the hardest sinners, even Satan himself, cannot, will not, stand the wrath of God.  They will be not.  See  Exodus 21:6    Deuteronomy 15:17    Revelation 6:15-17

Common sense tells you a merciful God will not torture.  Would God want to give his enemies life forever, if they endure a little discomfort?  Would God want them around at all to blaspheme Him some more?  If you are confronted with a dog that has rabies, do you pen it up and scorch it with a torch every few minutes?  No, dear reader, you being merciful, put the dog out of its misery.

God the Creator

The distinguishing characteristic of the One True God is His position of Creator.  "The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens."    Jeremiah 10:11

???  Does perish mean Perish, . . . or just perish?      See   John 3:16    John 3:14-19

The Lord our God is all present, all knowing, and all powerful.  He spoke a word and the Creation was made.  He commanded it to be, and it was.    Psalm 33:8-9

The gods and idols men set before themselves, as some great thing, are nothing.  The Creator of Heaven and Earth is the sovereign ruler.  Even the heathen who respect the Only Sovereign Creator are recognized by Him.  For without Jesus there "was not any thing made that was made."    Romans 1:20    Romans 2:11-15    Galatians 3:6-9    John 1:1-5    Acts 10:34-35
